Not every call we get at RC Squared Designs (RCSQ) is a planned renovation with drawings, finishes, and a build schedule. Sometimes it’s a true emergency home repair in Toronto—the kind where a homeowner is stressed, time matters, and the “problem” is moving around somewhere inside the walls.

That’s exactly what happened when we received an urgent call about a cat that had fallen into an HVAC vent and couldn’t get out.

It’s funny now—but in the moment it was a serious situation. The homeowner could hear the cat and knew it was trapped. They were worried about injury, overheating, and the cat panicking further into the duct run. They also didn’t want to tear apart half the house trying to get it out.

They needed a team that could respond quickly, make the right call on where to open up, and then leave the home properly repaired afterward.

Step 4: HVAC repair and verification (because airflow matters)

After any vent-related incident—especially one involving movement, impact, or removal of covers—we check and restore the HVAC system properly.

We inspected the affected section and completed the necessary HVAC vent repair to ensure:

the duct connection was secure,
there were no gaps or air leaks,
airflow wasn’t compromised,
everything was stable and properly fastened.

A lot of “quick fixes” stop after the rescue. But if the HVAC isn’t restored correctly, homeowners can end up with:

Step 5: Drywall patch, finishing, and clean-up (back to normal)

Finally, we reinstated the drywall and completed the repair so the home looked and functioned as it should.

leaving the space clean and safe.
